The Myrtle Beach Boardwalk is the heart of the city's energy. Stretching along the oceanfront, it's lined with shops, restaurants, and entertainment — and it's completely free to walk. The SkyWheel, a 187-foot Ferris wheel, offers stunning views of the coastline and is especially magical at night when it's lit up.

This massive entertainment complex is one of the most visited attractions in South Carolina, and for good reason. Broadway at the Beach has restaurants, shops, mini-golf, live entertainment, and a lake you can walk around. It's a full evening in itself.

Ripley's Aquarium is located here and is genuinely impressive — especially if you're traveling with kids. The shark tunnel alone is worth the visit.

This is a Myrtle Beach institution. Gay Dolphin has been selling beach souvenirs since 1946, and it's the kind of place you can spend an hour wandering through without realizing it. Five floors of everything you could possibly want to bring home from the beach.

It's touristy, yes — but it's also genuinely fun and a rite of passage for any Myrtle Beach visit.

If you want a break from the beach-town energy, Market Common is the answer. This walkable, upscale district has excellent restaurants, boutique shopping, a movie theater, and a beautiful park. It feels like a different world from the main strip — in the best way.

Just a few miles south of Sunrise Oasis, Myrtle Beach State Park is one of the most beautiful stretches of undeveloped coastline in the area. It's a great escape from the crowds — the beach is quieter, the water is clean, and the maritime forest trails are genuinely lovely.

Myrtle Beach is busiest in June, July, and August. If you're visiting during peak season, plan popular attractions for weekday mornings or evenings to avoid the biggest crowds. The shoulder seasons — May and September — offer great weather with significantly fewer people.
